The Canadian Whale Institute has a 25+ year history of working with marine industries to mutually develop solutions that mitigate the effects of vessel strikes and fishing gear entanglement on marine mammals, with a focus on the North Atlantic right whale. Our research team conducts at sea studies on marine mammals and provides the results of those studies for conservation measures and education programs. The Campobello Whale Rescue team responds to reports of marine mammals that are entangled and entrapped in fishing gear. The goal is the coexistence of the fishing and shipping and the marine mammals and other sea life that inhabit the ocean.
